This is gonna bit of a short one I feel. I have had The Philosopher’s Flight sitting on my shelves for a minute. It isn’t YA and I haven’t heard many people talking about it. I remember when I first bought it. The cover was the first thing that caught my attention, then the story. I remember it feeling different to anything that I had read before and I can still say that it does feel different from anything I have read before. I consider this to be good thing. Especially since I read so much YA, but adult fiction is what hooked me into reading first.
I can say that this is an interesting story. I own the physical, but I ended my listening to the audiobook instead. I really enjoyed it. The narrator I felt did a good job of distinguishing between the different characters and really transported me into the time period.
What did I love most about the story? definitely the school setting. I am just a sucker for a good school setting. Radcliff is located in Boston, MA, I always have a soft spot for stories that take place in Boston. There is just a similarity that really helps pull me into the story even more. Again this story surprised me and is different to anything I have read before. Primarily the stories I read are female led and driven. That is not the case for this one, but the side characters are a group of diverse and colorful women that I just want to be friends with. There is humor, romance and some kicks action. All the things I like and that keep me into a story. What I like most about the story is the ending, in a way if left me feeling like this could be a standalone, but after a little research there is a second book coming out.
If you’re looking for something different, I would recommend picking this up.
