Hello 2019

The start of the new year is like the biggest restart button one can get. For me, 2018 was a year of change and discovering new things about myself. I went through surgery, adopted my rescue Mikey, discovered new reading habits I had developed and overall just learned new things about myself.

So with 2019 here and 2018 gone, I thought it would be a good time to create some general goals for the new year. Now I typically don’t create goals for the new year, just in case when the end of the year comes and I didn’t complete any of my goals. But you know what it’s nice to have goals, it can help in moving forward and continuing to move forward.

A major goal for me is revamping the blog and getting back to posting regularly. I want to focus on growing this little blog and sharing my love of reading. I focused more on my Instagram in 2018 and I’ve grown a little community over there, I would like to do the same here. I’m going to start slow and of course some post will be better than others, but I’ll give it my best shot.

Something that I have been thinking about a lot in 2018 was going back to school, taking a class here and there. It’s been a couple of years since I graduated, but there are still things I could learn. With a class coming up and working full time, I’m going to be needing to get organized.

I have a goal to read more of what is currently on my bookshelves and buy less books. I plan on going to Book Con this year, so I’m in need of saving some money and putting myself on a book buying ban. This will be my first big ban of the year, I tend to put myself on a ban for short periods of time. This will be the first time at Book Con and I’m super excited. If you’ve ever been to Book Con, please send me all your tips and tricks.

One thing I have created to help with all of my unread books is by creating a TBR jar. Now I did this a few years back and it was pretty helpful. The last TBR jar I created had prompts to pick a book to match. I think I’m going to places the titles of books that I want to get to this year and when I’m looking for something to read, I’ll just pick one at random.

I’m also creating a new release jar. Since I’m putting myself on a buying ban and getting serious about saving, I feel like this will be a good idea. The plan is to get a rough idea of books being released in 2019 that peaked my interest and place it the jar. This will help me remember books that sound good to me and make it fun when I want to treat myself to a new book. Hopefully these will help with the need to spend all of my money on books. I also used to strictly read ebooks and that has sort of changed over the years, so I plan on changing that and use my Nook more often. I have the struggle of having too many books and they are currently over flowing from my shelves big time.

If I can get through more of what is currently on my shelves in 2019 I’ll be happy. Here is to a new year, I hope it is a good one. What are some of your bookish goals in 2019?
