Owlcrate June 2019

Lets start the week with a little unboxing from Owlcrate, the theme for June 2019 was Libraries of Wonder. If I remember correctly this box sold out pretty quickly. I find that if the theme is libraries then the book lovers will come. Now as some of you know I have been a subscriber of Owlcrate since the very first box. Every month I get super excited to get my box and see all the goodies that are inside. For this box there are some new things included that Owlcrate hasn’t ever included before. I always find this exciting, because it’s usually item that you wouldn’t think would be included. So lets get into the box.

First thing we have is a gel pen that looks like a key. I love pens so this has already been come in handy. When I first saw the pen I got instant The Archive by Victoria Schwab vibes from it. Next we have coaster illustrated by KDP Letter. I love coaster and they are something that has been included before. I still use the ones that have been included in previous boxes, so this will definitely get some use. Also how amazing is the lettering, as a graphic designer who loves lettering, these just warm my little heart.

For the coffee lovers this will be a treat. A decent sample size of ground coffee from Book Beau was included. The coffee is inspired by Beauty and the Beast. I’m not a coffee drinker anymore, so I will be passing this along to a good home.

Totes, I love totes and I’m always excited when they are included. I use a tote everyday and keep a collection in my car. I live in a place where a lot of stores require you to bring your own bags, so totes are always appreciated. This tote is another design from Stella Bookish Art. It is inspired by Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor. The quote on the bag is “Dream up something Wild and Improbable”.

Now these are something that hasn’t ever been included before and I am absolutely in love with them. These black metal bookends designed by Hey Atlas Creative are gorgeous. They are inspired by the Chronicles of Narnia and have come in handy for my ever growing collection. They currently reside on my desk holding up my current books that I want to get to.

Now on to the book included, Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson. I have had my eye on this book since I first saw it making the rounds on bookstagram. I also almost picked it up while I was at Book Con this year. I’m so glad that I followed my gut and decided to wait for this box. When I first saw the announcement post from Owlcrate on Instagram, I had a feeling that this was going to be the book, so I knew I just had to wait it out. And I am so glad I did because this Owlcrate exclusive cover is just gorgeous. Purple is my favorite color, so when I saw this cover I full on swooned over it. I’m also obsessed with Charlie Bowater, so anytime I see one of her covers I get super excited and want it in my collection.

SYNOPSIS:

All sorcerers are evil. Elisabeth has known that as long as she has known anything. Raised as a foundling in one of Austermeer’s Great Libraries, Elisabeth has grown up among the tools of sorcery—magical grimoires that whisper on shelves and rattle beneath iron chains. If provoked, they transform into grotesque monsters of ink and leather. She hopes to become a warden, charged with protecting the kingdom from their power.

Then an act of sabotage releases the library’s most dangerous grimoire. Elisabeth’s desperate intervention implicates her in the crime, and she is torn from her home to face justice in the capital. With no one to turn to but her sworn enemy, the sorcerer Nathaniel Thorn, and his mysterious demonic servant, she finds herself entangled in a centuries-old conspiracy. Not only could the Great Libraries go up in flames, but the world along with them.

As her alliance with Nathaniel grows stronger, Elisabeth starts to question everything she’s been taught—about sorcerers, about the libraries she loves, even about herself. For Elisabeth has a power she has never guessed, and a future she could never have imagined.

We can’t forget about the exclusive enamel pins that are now included with every box. For June the pin was designed by Brio and Brandish. It is inspired by Sorcery of Thorns and pays homage to Silas. I have to say that so far each designs of the pins included have been amazing and this one is no exception.

If you received the June 2019 box from Owlcrate what was your favorite thing included? Also what do you think about Soccer of Thorns, is it one that you would add to your TBR.

Happy Reading!!!
