April – June Wrap Up 2019

My TBR for the past three months was completely pointless in this situation. When looking back my original TBR included:

Dark Days Club by Allison Goodman

Jane Steele by Lyndsay Faye

The City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty

A Reaper at the Gates by Sabaa Tahir

Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas

Out of that list I only read Jane Steele, I gave it 3 stars and you can check out my full review here. I’m making my way through Reaper. I have no idea why it is taking my so long because I am really enjoying it and can safely say that it will be getting a high review from me. I’m still hoping to get to the others. I currently have them on my desk to remind me to read them.

Now I did get some reading done these past three months and some of them are real gems and would highly recommend.

Stalking Jack the Ripper // Kerri Maniscalco

5 stars

I loved this, the characters are interesting and have a good range. I like that it felt like it could act as a standalone. Also the mystery was what truly hooked me.

The Savior // JR Ward

5 stars

I adore this book, I would even possibly say that it is in my top 5 of favorites from the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. It has all the things that I love and adore and just ugh, this is a perfect example of why JR Ward is my number one favorite author.

Of Rioters & Royals // ML Greyer

4.5 stars

I thoroughly enjoyed this and can’t wait for the next one. You can check out my full review here.

Of Fire and Stars // Audrey Coulthurst

3 stars

This is a cute story and has plenty of action and moments that make your heart swell.

Jane Steele // Lyndsay Faye

3 stars

I don’t really know how I feel about this story. I think I may have gone into it with too high of hopes. I liked the first 25% of the story and then it just fell apart for me from there. I think the problem may be that I’m just not a classics lover and Jane Steele is very much written like a classic to me. You can check out my full review here.

Bloom // Kevin Panetta , Savanna Ganucheau (illustrator)

3 stars

I LOVE the art of Bloom. It was a quick read, the only thing though was that Ari at times really annoyed me. But I loved Hector and primarily read it for him.

Heartstopper Vol.1 // Alice Oseman

5 stars

Now this graphic novel I adore and now holds a special place in my heart. I could not put it down. Also once I was finished I instantly wanted volume 2. I just love Nick and Charlie and want more of them. I totally plan on reading more from Alice Oseman. You can check out my full review here.

Descendants of War // Ruby Fitzgerald

4 Stars

Overall it was good. It has the making for a really interesting series and there were really good action scenes that hooked me. The only thing that bothered me were the forced accents on certain characters. At times it took me out of the story. You can check out my full review here.

Hunting Prince Dracula // Kerri Maniscalo

4 stars

Once again I like the central mystery of the story. The only thing though was I felt it was a little too much swoon at moments. The romance felt a little too laid on.

Legendary // Stephanie Garber

5 stars

I loved this even more than Caraval. It felt a little darker, which I felt really worked for the story.  I also loved that there was more conspiracy involved.

The Raven Boys // Maggie Stievfater

5 Stars

This was a reread and this time around I enjoyed it even more than the first time. I also listened to the audiobook while reading the physical book and I can say that I didn’t enjoy the narrator at all.

Orpheus Girl // Brynne Rebele-Henry

4 stars

I really enjoyed this one. The characters felt real, I could really feel their struggle. You can find my full review here.

Daisy Jone & The Six // Taylor Jenkins Reid

5 Stars

This one blew my mind away with how much I love it. I can safely say that this is one that will be in my collection for a long time. It might even be my favorite read of 2019 so far. You can check out my full review here.

The Okay Witch // Emma Steinkellner

5 stars

This Graphic Novel is so cute. I love the representation, I felt like little Bianca would have loved this and cherished it. You can check out my full review here.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone // JK Rowling

4 stars

A reread for me as I’ve committed to reading the whole series for the first time. I will say this, there are so many extra details. I like that the bones of the story compared to the movie is the same, but it is all bonus and a totally different experience reading the book.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets // JK Rowling

4 stars

I really liked this even more than the first. Once I was done I immediately jumped into the third. I liked the action, I also really likes once again all the extra little details.
